Applied Robotics was founded in 1983 with the invention and patenting of the first XChange automatic robotic tool changer - designed using a T-square on a dining room table. Applied Robotics then incorporated in Troy, NY, and focused on the integration and design of robotic automation equipment.

The company also grew thanks to continuous need from Hughes Aircraft and the aerospace industry. Responding to market changes, the company shifted its focus away from systems integration and toward product development. Applied Robotics expanded on this line of products and soon became a world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic robotic tool changers, supplying to all major automotive manufacturers across the globe.

In 1990  Applied Robotics  introduced the QuickSTOP pneumatic collision protector.  This product protected end of arm tooling – whether robotic or gantry –  from expensive damage during unexpected crashes.  In 1994, growth allowed Applied Robotics to relocate to its current facility in Glenville, NY. Additional machining capability is added to bring more component manufacturing in-house, enabling better control of costs and delivery schedules.

In 2015 Applied Robotics, Inc.  became part of the Italian Effecto Group, based in San Maurizio d’Opaglio, in Northern Italy.  This fusion gave the group a perfect mix of products by adding Effecto’s Tecnomors line of grippers and work-holding devices.

Hexelus is proud to sell these very high quality components and can ship many pneumatic grippers from stock!
